The Organizers of the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan

As part of our commitment to building healthier and more resilient communities, Rise and Restore organized a Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and Mental Health Awareness Workshop in Kupwara in collaboration with the District Administration, Kupwara, as part of the 100-day campaign initiated by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir. The program brought together distinguished stakeholders, including the Deputy Commissioner, SSP, medical superintendents, BMOs, CMOs, educationists, and community representatives, creating a meaningful platform for dialogue on substance abuse, prevention, rehabilitation, and mental well-being. The sessions were led by subject experts, including Dr. Muzaffar Khan and Mehvish, who engaged with participants on the social and psychological dimensions of substance use and its impact on individuals, families, and communities.

This was followed by four days of workshops across schools and colleges in Kupwara, focusing on mental health awareness and substance-use prevention. We were privileged to have subject experts from the University of Kashmir, including Dr. Shazia Malik, along with advocates, psychologists, and psychiatrists, who interacted with students and young people and encouraged open conversations around mental health, addiction, stigma, peer influence, and seeking timely support.

Through these initiatives, Rise and Restore aimed not only to spread awareness but also to encourage community participation, early intervention, and a culture of empathy and support, particularly among young people.
